I feel your pain.
I floundered in porn and sex addiction for 30 years, and tried to fill the longing in my soul with everything I could get my hands on. Lust, porn, illicit sex, drugs, alcohol, church, you name it, I’ve tried it.
None of it worked.
I was transformed and began my initiation into my true identity through a genuine apprenticeship to Jesus Christ.
Three life-changing mentors came into my life and pointed me to the reality of the good news of Jesus.
I had to let go of everything I thought I knew about God, and over the last seven years He has completely changed my life.

The Roundtable
48 weekly group training sessions (hosted on Zoom). This is the heart of the group where deep transformation, discipleship, and brotherhood happens. Currently meeting on Thursday 8 PM EST and Saturday 7AM EST.

The Roundtable
The Roundtable is our weekly apprenticeship training. A group video call open to members only. A time of teaching, fellowship, and camaraderie.
Our course of study is 48 lessons, delivered one lesson per week over the course of 12 months.
In the course we journey through the six masculine archetypes, seeking to formed by Jesus throughout each phase of a man’s life: The Son, the Apprentice, the Warrior, the Lover, the Sage, and the King.
You can start your journey at any time throughout the calendar year.
Jesus began his ministry by preaching that “…the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matt. 4:17).
The right time is now.
The kingdom is at hand.
The Course
The Good King Course is made up of 48 lessons divided into six courses centered on the six masculine archetypes.
New lessons are uploaded on Mondays. No matter when in the calendar year you join, you’ll start your journey with “The Son’s Awakening” course.
Weekly Roundtable discussions will provide a time of Q&A, teaching, fellowship, and shared integration. Men at different points of the journey will be able to offer insight and encouragement to those just getting started.
1. The Son’s Awakening
8 Lessons to begin your journey into freedom and masculine inititiation. Moving from an orphan-hearted, striving mindset into the security, trust, and peace of a beloved son.
4. The Lover’s Heart
6 Lessons cultivating the heart of a man who knows how to love fully—God, others, and the world around him. This is where the warrior, who has learned to stand and fight, now learns what is worth fighting for.
2. The Apprentice’s Path
12 Lessons on learning to bring every part of life into alignment with Jesus Christ—body, mind, emotions, will, habits, and rhythms.
5. The Sage’s Counsel
6 Lessons to transition from passion-driven action to wisdom-guided mastery. Learn to operate from deep wisdom, discernment, and spiritual authority—walking in mastery over his own life and offering guidance to others.
3. The Warrior’s Crucible
8 Lessons to move from passively following Jesus to actively contending for the good, the true, and the beautiful. Apprenticeship becomes battle, and we learn to stand firm, fight well, and overcome.
6. Becoming A King
8 Lessons. This is the culmination of the masculine journey. It is not about domination, status, or worldly success, but rather ruling one’s life, family, and sphere of influence with wisdom, love, justice, and strength—mirroring the King of Kings.
The Six Masculine Archetypes
In the stories of biblical masculinity we find six primary archetypes represented. From Abraham and Moses to Gideon, Solomon, David, Paul, and of course Jesus we find a deep well of godly masculine inspiration to draw from.
The Son
Moving from an orphan-hearted, striving mindset into the security, trust, and peace of a beloved son. Learning to live from a place of love instead of fear.
The Apprentice
Learning to bring every part of life into alignment with Jesus Christ—body, mind, emotions, will, habits, and rhythms.
The Warrior
Moving from passively following Jesus to actively contending for the good, the true, and the beautiful. Learning to fight well and overcome.
The Lover

I use the term guidance to refer to my work for a reason, but the terms are mostly interchangeable.
Coaching implies a “Point A to Point B” journey, and that’s not concept that resonates with the Kingdom of Heaven idea of moving into deeper union with God and embodying a more profound experience of that relationship.
I think of myself as a kingdom guide, or in biblical terms, a disciple maker.
In the New Testament, the idea of making disciples implied that one’s whole life should reveal the deeper nature of the kingdom of God.
That’s what I aspire to.

Our culture - even Christian culture - has lost many of the rights of initiation that prepare a man to step into his true identity and calling.
Many men blindly follow the path of least resistance offered to them by their culture and family of origin, never facing a true masculine initiation.
As a result, men are struggling in a crisis of meaning, frustrated by the chains that bind them. Chains of addiction and anxiety, resentment, and a feeling lost in life. Lacking purpose in life, we reach for the destructive fruits of pleasure, lust, comfort, and material possessions to fill the gaping hole in our hearts.

Masculine Archetypes are universal patterns of character, behavior, and identity that express different parts of mature masculinity.
Throughout the Scriptures, literature, and history we can identify six key identities or types that a well rounded man embodies throughout the journey of his life.

There are always parts of us that need to be initiated more deeply in love and grow more like Jesus.
The six archetypes are a useful framework to help us make sense of where we are on our journey and inspire us to greater wholeness.

The Roundtable is the name of our weekly online group coaching sessions.
The men of The Good King meet via Zoom once per week for instruction, fellowship, and camaraderie.

A total of 58 Lessons delivered weekly, the lessons are based on the examples of true biblical masculinity. Learning from Moses, Abraham, Joseph, David, and other godly men of old, and culminating in the ultimate example of biblical masculinity: Jesus.

The Forge is the name of our community group chat.
It’s where we discuss what we’re learning, share our wins and our challenges, ask questions, and share memes.

The Forms are daily practices you are invited to implement in order to deepen your faith, make contact with reality, and heal your mind, body, and soul.
Men who struggle with addiction or anxiety or who are experiencing a crisis of meaning frequently have very poor personal daily habits.
We are assaulted with many things vying for our attention that rob us of our peace.
The forms provide a starting point for an embodied practice that leads to greater health and flourishing.
The forms are no-or-low cost patterns and disciplines that will form your character and create space for you to hear from God.
Not everyone will practice all of the forms all the time. As you grow and mature, you may find these forms can grow with you.

This journey is not fore every man.
Some men are looking for a quick fix, or another band-aid to put on the wound in their soul.
Their suffering has not been sufficient to spur them to take a transformational journey.
Other men will insist on holding too rigidly to their current worldview, God-view, and self-view and will resist the necessary transformation.
Yet others will insist on trying harder to be good , white-knuckling their sobriety, and hoping It gets better sometime.

Since my profound initiation into true masculinity began seven years ago, I’ve longed for an authentic experience of men’s community.
I found that a lot of men’s groups lack deep vulnerability or they collapse into a too-soft and mushy mess.
I created The Good King because I want and need this in my own life, and I wanted to offer my life as a service to other men who are on this beautiful, sacred, brutal, and healing journey to whole-heartedness.
I’m forever indebted to men who have gone this way before, men like John Eldredge, Dallas Willard, Morgan Snyder, and many, many, more that have shaped me deeply.
