Party at the ranch tonight!
Hey man.
Today’s the day.
Yes, it’s just a random Thursday in March, but dad’s throwing a big shindig at the ranch tonight and he would LOVE for you to be there.
Dad’s waiting at the ranch and can’t wait to wrap his arms around you with that big bear hug of his.
You’ve been gone so long - do you even remember what the ranch is like?
You’ve been scrapping around for a living over here on this patch of hell for so long that you might have forgotten about dad’s ranch, but I’ve got good news.
Dad’s ranch is a whole other kind of vibe than what you’ve been used to over here.
I know you’ve been going through it ever since you ran away from home.
You look like you’ve been through it man!
But don’t worry about all of that.
Don’t worry about what to wear - just come as you are.
He had one of the ranch hands go pick up a new outfit in town. You can shower and get changed before dinner, but just come right now and we’ll go get cleaned up.
He’s got a big dry aged brisket on the smoker right now and the fridge is stocked. He said we’re going to break open the bottle of Pappy 23 that’s been sitting in the library since you were a kid!
There’s going to be music and dancing, a big spread on the lawn, and plenty of fun and games.

Why the big shindig on a random Thursday night?
That’s just the way dad is.
You’ve probably forgotten - you’ve been over here in this hellish place for so long.
I know over here you have to work your butt off all week, hoping to earn enough to have a little fun on the weekends, but that’s not how it is at dad’s ranch.
The rules are different at dad’s ranch.
Dad’s different too.
Not different than He was when you left.
Different than how you saw Him when you left.
Dad’s big on love.
He’s always loved you man! You just didn’t see it.
It’s ok though. He’s always known you’d come home.
Every morning He takes his coffee and walks out to the end of the lane to watch for you.
You should see his smile when he talks about you.
The gleam in his eye, the laughter. The joy. He tells all his friends about you.
He can’t wait to introduce you to them.
Bring your wife and kids too - I know they’re going to love the place Dad built for you.
It’s a beautiful house on the back 40 looking out over the pond.
After the party tonight I’ll give you a ride over to the house and you can sleep there tonight.
The sheets are crisp and fresh. High thread Egyptian cotton.
No more sleeping in the barn.
Think about it.
After a good night’s rest you can have coffee on the porch watching the sun come up.
We’ll have breakfast over at the big house after the chores are done. Dad’s making waffles, bacon, eggs, fruit, juice, you name it.
You can stay in the house- it’s yours. Dad had it built just for you. You don’t ever have to leave. He’s giving it to you.
I know you’re tired of running.
You’ve got a knot in your stomach. Your back aches. Your head feels foggy.
You probably feel like you’re not worthy of coming and being celebrated at dad’s big party tonight.
He doesn’t see it that way.
Dad doesn’t see your sin and your shame when he thinks about you. I’ve never once heard him tell his friends about the bad things you’ve done.
He talks about who you are and how proud he is of you.
He sees things in you man. Big things.
He knows you’ve probably seen a thing or to over there.
Everything you went through over there? Dad has a way of turning that on it’s head and using it to make you more powerful.
He turns your pain into your superpower.
That’s just how dad works.
There’s a project he’s really passionate about that I heard him talk about the other day. He said he thinks you’d be just the guy to lead it. He said you’re made just for it.
He’s expanding the ranch - taking over some land that has fallen into disrepair and he said that you have just the right skill set to mend the broken stuff and bring it up to snuff with the way things run at dad’s ranch.
But enough about work - we’ve got a party to get to.
Dad sent me in his new rig. It’s sitting out here right now.
Throw you stuff in the back.
Let’s go home.
