Are you going to build an ark or let your family drown?
I asked Grok to render an image of a modern Noah building an ark.
When I read the news or scroll social media, the story of Noah frequently comes to mind.
In Genesis 6, God tells Noah that he is going to destroy the earth and the people in it. He tells him to build a boat so that his family can survive the floods that are going to wipe everything out.
The account also tells us that “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God”.
Before we get into how Noah is relevant to us today, I want to pause to point something out.
Noah was a good man, but he was a man like you and I. His capacity for “hearing” God’s voice was no different than yours or mine.
God hasn’t changed - he hasn’t stopped speaking to us. Perhaps we’ve lost our ability to hear him, but he still speaks.
Consider the detailed plans for the ark that are detailed in the text: the dimensions, layout, and materials are listed explicitly. How do you think God communicated those to Noah?
How exactly do you think he communicated to Noah about the coming flood?
The same way he communicates to us, if we are willing to listen.

Dr. Jordan Peterson describes the “voice of God” in us as being located at the convergence of “calling” and “conscience”.
That makes sense to me and is good way to describe the way that I experience “hearing” God’s voice.
The “calling” that we feel that pulls us out into the world to create and build, and the “conscience” that tells us when we have done something wrong.
The calling “adds” to our consciousness, the conscience “cuts away” the things that don’t belong—that are not “true”.
Noah walked with God and was attuned to his voice, so he could sense (intuit) that the culture around him was going to hell in a hand basket. He could observe that the mode of being that manifested itself in the culture was so out of harmony with “being itself” (God, I AM, Love) that it would soon “cease to be”.
That is how it works, after all.
In order to “be”, to exist across a lone time span, that which is has to “be” in coherence with the laws that govern being itself. Things that are not in harmony with “being itself” will, at some point, cease to exist.
Only that which is aligned with God (I AM, Being Itself), will persist across time, and only that which is TOTALLY in harmony with the Ground of Being will exist forever (eternal life).
When I look out at the world that I live in, I can see that it out of sync with “being itself”. It has gone off of the rails. It has departed from the underlying truth of reality in fundamental ways, and because of that, it will “cease to be” at some point.
I’m not a doomsayer—I”m actually pretty optimistic—but it’s clear to me that modern civilization is not well aligned with Love, with Wisdom, with God, with Being Itself.
We (as a culture, as a civilization) have swallowed so many lies that we no longer are grounded in what is Real, and because of that, we will cease to exist (at least in our current form).
Humans have a profound capacity for transformation and an ability to adapt to new contexts. Perhaps we will transform humanity and begin to live in alignment with the truth of reality, and we will flourish beyond our wildest imagination.
That is within the field of potential.
“Jesus is the “meta-paradigm” for human adaptation that will allow us to transform humanity into a species that truly thrives. ”
The map, or model, for that kind of transformation IS Jesus Christ. Jesus is the “meta-paradigm” for human adaptation that will allow us to transform humanity into a species that truly thrives.
Jesus is humanities’ only hope, truly, if we want to transform our communities into places of real human flourishing.
Short of a widespread re-form-ation (literally “reforming”) of human consciousness, things will start coming apart rather badly.
Like Noah, you can probably feel it in your bones. Our way of life has confused us and blinded us to truth in such a way that we can tell… the storm is coming.
What is the storm?
It’s hard to say.
God said he would not destroy the whole earth with a flood again, so I don’t expect that.
One possibility is that all of western civilization will degrade into an AI fueled “Mad Max” scenario, or something like that.
Or possibly it will play out more like the zombie apocolypse.
The zombification of humanity is real and self-evident. Grown up men walking down the sidewalk with their heads in their phone, siphoning off enough stimulus to produce enough dopamine to keep putting one foot in front of another, while they head off to a job they hate, so they can pay the credit card bills for the things they bought to impress people they don’t like, and to pay a stranger to raise their children so their wife can spend her days sitting rigidly beneath florescent lights in a cubicle working for yet another stranger.
Did you ever wonder why those stories are in our imagination?
Zombie movies didn’t put zombies into our consciousness.
Our consciousness knows that “zombie” is within the field of potential if we depart from what is real, good, and true.
That’s why we make, and watch, zombie movies.
Same thing with Mad Max.
We know that’s a possibility.
We tell these stories (zombies, apocolypse, etc.) as a way to try to gain wisdom about what to do in the face of this rising potential.
How then shall we live if people are turning into zombies? Or into Mad Max?
You have to build an ark, metaphorically speaking.
You MUST inhabit a mode of being that retains that which is most valuable, protects it from destruction, and transfers it to the next generation.
That’s an ark.
Build an ark of safety for your family. For civilization itself.
You have to listen to the voice of God and build an ark of safety for you and your generations to keep them safe from the storm that is coming.
Or you, and they, will perish.

I’m not an alarmist, and I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I just see, like Noah did, that the way we are living is unmoored enough from reality that it must cease to exist.
History plays itself out in patterns, and the time frame we’re living in now is begging for civilizational change.
We all sense it. We just don’t know what to do about it.
Whether this civilizational change will be a mass ascension of consciousness or a collapse into Mad Max, the answer is the same: Jesus.
If we go through a re-form-ation of society, and we upgrade our consciousness to more closely live in alignment with reality (with ‘What Is’), that will come about because we map our lives onto the reality (truth) of the resurrected Christ.
If we collapse into an apocalyptic hellscape (Mad Max), the ark of safety that will protect the flame of human consciousness for future generations is Jesus.
Mapping your life onto the paradigm of Jesus is the answer to the problem in either case.
Either we all ascend and transform the world into something closer to God’s Garden of Paradise, or we descend further into hell and hope to survive.
In the first case, living the reality of Christ within you is what will catalyze that transformation.
In the second case, living the reality of Christ within you IS the ark of safety.
It is the only mode of being that will sustain you through the coming flood.
I am not talking about a faith that you would describe as “something you believe as an act of the will, despite the evidence”. That’s not faith.
True faith is a lived reality of experiencing God as the Ground of Being.
Practicing to live “as if it were true” that Love is what is Real.
Living as if it were true that Love conquers death, and sin, and the devil.
You won’t actually find out if it’s true until you live it.
Like you won’t know what an avocado tastes like until you’ve eaten one.
Are you going to be like Noah?
A man who walked with God and lived righteously and built an ark when he saw the coming storm?
A man who saved his family (and humanity) from the ultimate calamity?
Seven years ago when I went “all-in” on God I started to see the way that this decision created a way of being in our home that provided an ark of safety for my own family.
I saw the way that this lead to greater coherence for my family. For our relationships. Our nervous system. Our way of being was being transformed. We started to see the reality of the kingdom of heaven.
The invitation is open to you to step into this life as well.
Today is the day.
Build the ark!
